Born in Bakhuzien, Holland, Nico Vanderway was introduced to hemp farming as a child. Hemp farming had been in his family for hundreds of years, that is up until the Dutch ruler ordered all hemp growers to become dairy farmers 8 generations ago.
When presented with the opportunity in 2016, Nico welcomed the opportunity to go back to his family’s heritage of hemp farming.
Excited at the prospect, Nico engaged in research to find the best location to grow hemp. After much deliberation, Medford, Oregon was the clear winner.
Nico planted his first hemp crop on a 30-acre farm in the spring of 2018, and after much success, is currently growing 127 acres in Medford.
